Two types of coracle were used on the Dee, a river on which coracles fished until 1920 when the netting rights were bought by the Dee fishery board from the last three netsmen of the Bangor-on-Dee, Overton district. Fifty years ago angling was still practiced on the river from coracles in the Llangollen district using a two seater. The lower Dee coracle type was mainly used in the Bangor-Iscoed to Overton district and the upper Dee type was used between Bala and beyond the mouth of the Ceiriog, although most were used around Llangollen after which this type of coracle is known. |
